The Brookhaven Police Street Crime unit seized 4 guns, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia on August 12.
Around 9:33 p.m. they made a traffic stop on a gray Toyota Camry with a Copiah County plate in the Roger Circle area.

The driver and passengers were asked to step out of the the car, which they did. The car was searched with probable cause from the smell of marijuana. During the search two handguns, two AR style rifles, four AR magazines, one 100 round AR double drum magazine, one 9mm drum magazine, four 9mm magazines, seven 40mm magazines and also marijuana and paraphernalia were found.
All items found in the search were seized.
Brookhaven Police Chief Collins stated,
“It starts with something small such as stealing candy from a convenience store, to breaking into cars, to stealing firearms, to armed robberies, to drive by shootings, to murders. No one knows what the intentions were from the people in the car, but thankfully it was stopped before anything happened. It takes everyone in this city to help stop these crimes and to continue to keep Brookhaven safe. Therefore, we ask for the public’s help. If you see something, hear something, or know something now is the time to speak.”
Sincerely Chief Collins.
