“Speed limits are just that: the limit in NORMAL conditions,” said Terry Police Chief Mike Ivy.

In times of inclement weather, such as the rain and even ice that our area is experiencing, he reminds us to slow down below the speed limit, “and make it there safely.”

Ivy offers this timely advice from the scene of a one-vehicle accident on I-55 Wednesday morning.

A car was traveling southbound and drifted off the road, witnesses said. When the driver tried to correct, they went up into the median and lost control.

The driver suffered minor injuries. Traffic was slowed, but no closures were reported.
