Man convicted in 2020 shooting of hotel clerk gets 30 years

A man convicted of shooting a hotel clerk in Byram has been sentenced in the crime.

According to Byram Police Department, in May 2020, Willie Robinson went into the Holiday Inn Express and shot the clerk multiple times. Robinson then kidnapped the victim, left the scene, and returned to tamper with evidence at the crime scene.

Robinson turned himself in a few days later at Byram Police Department.

Last month, he pleaded guilty to all charges in Hinds County Circuit Court and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
