The Enterprise Journal reports that four suspects have been arrested in a drive-by shooting Sunday that left a 6-year-old boy dead and four others injured.

The victims were playing basketball in a McComb park on Sunday.

Malik Reed, 17, Bryan Cameron, 18, Yajari Jackson, 19, and Bryceon Thompson, 18, are each chared with capital murder and four counts of aggravated assault manifesting extreme indifference to human life.

McComb Police Chief Garland Ward told the EJ that the suspects were arrested early Monday. He said Jackson surrendered and the others were arrested at their homes. All of them were in custody by 4 a.m., Ward said.

The shooting happened at 5 p.m. at Central Park when shots were fired from a black Dodge Charger headed east on Minnesota Avenue near the park’s basketball courts and playground.

The Enterprise Journal reports that the 6-year-old, whose name hasn’t been released, died at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. A 12-year-old who was also shot was taken by air to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and remains in critical condition. One other victim is also critical and the remaining two have non-life threatening injuries.

Ward told the EJ that the other victims were 23, 18 and 17. Police say it’s possible that someone was shooting back at the car, which had bullet holes. Some of the houses across the street were also struck by bullets. Ward said the same charges will be pressed on anyone else engaged in the shootout.
