Mary Apel

On Monday, February 7, Joseph E. Fenton was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of weapon by convicted felon after a Crime Stoppers tip led detectives to his location.

A tipster called Crime Stoppers and told detectives that Fenton was in the Starkville area and a second witness identified Fenton from his photo after the media release. This witness led detectives to Fenton and he was taken into custody at the University Inn by the Starkville Police department SWAT team without incident.

“Partnerships with local agencies are invaluable. By combining our resources, we are able to apprehend violent criminals like Fenton, whether they’re hiding here in Lowndes County or in Starkville,” Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said. “We are especially appreciative for the tips received on the whereabouts of this suspect. Thanks to the public’s help, Fenton will be held accountable for his crimes.”
