Brookhaven man sentenced to 15 years on child sex charges

A Brookhaven man was sentenced recently to 15 years in prison on charges of sexual battery and gratification of lust.

According to the Natchez Democrat, Grayson Brewer, 21, of Brookhaven, pleaded guilty to one count gratification of lust, which involves fondling. Authorities say that happened between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019. He also pleaded guilty to one count sexual battery, which happened between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019.

While the crimes did not occur at school, “word gets around and the children were being ostracized by their peers. Some of the parents of other children didn’t allow them to come over for fear of being victimized. So often victims get victimized again by others,” said Assistant District Attorney Stanley Alexander.

Brewer was a student at Copiah-Lincoln Community College when he committed his crimes.
