Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday night shooting in Utica.

Deputies were called to the scene in Lee Davis Circle just after 8 p.m. where 19-year-old Frederick McGriggs was shot in the face.

McGriggs was taken to UMMC with non life threatening injuries.

Deputies say an unknown man walked up to the home McGriggs was visiting, fired multiple shots, then fled the scene.

Another person who was standing outside at a vehicle with McGriggs at the time was uninjured.

No motive or suspect has been named.
