A security guard was shot in a shooting at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg.

Vicksburg Police and ERDC Security Officials are continuing their investigation into a shooting that happened around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Vicksburg Police Deputy Chief Micheal Bryant said that the security officer was struck by gunfire, and then he was transported by a Vicksburg Fire Department ambulance for medical treatment. The government facility remains on lockdown at this time and workers are being asked to shelter in place.

Bryant also stated in a subsequent release that this is not an active shooter situation.
