The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

According to a release, Claiborne County deputies were setting up to enforce the 2 a.m. curfew at Simps Bar and Grill on Tillman Road around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday.

During the curfew procedure, a deputy was assaulted by a person in the crowd. Willie Young was arrested and charged with simple assault on a police officer.

He had his initial court appearance Tuesday, and bond was set at $100,000. The case has been bound over to the Grand Jury.
