One of three suspects in an armed carjacking that left a victim suffering from a gunshot wound at Walmart in Olive Branch has been apprehended by police.

A release from Olive Branch Police Department says that on November 7, police responded to a call at Walmart on Craft-Goodman Frontage Road. The victims tell police they were approached by three black men who demanded the victims give them the keys to their cars.

During this interaction, one of the victims was shot. The suspects then took off in the victims’ cars.

The victim who was shot was taken to Regional One for treatment.

Southaven police were able to recover the stolen vehicles and retrieve evidence from one of the suspects, 18-year-old Andre Jean Garner of Memphis. Police were able to catch up to him while conducting a traffic stop on what was believed to be a stolen vehicle.

Garner was taken into custody and turned over to Olive Branch, where he has been charged with attempt to commit murder, armed carjacking, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Authorities say the case is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and Chief Don Gammage expressed gratitude to the U.S. Marshals, Memphis Police, and Southaven Police for their help in capturing Garner.
