Columbus police have made four arrests in a home burglary that happened Thursday, but not without the help of the homeowner.

According to a release from Columbus Police Department, three juveniles and an adult were arrested after a homeowner caught one of the juveniles outside home and held him there “with force” until police arrived.

The incident occurred on Beech Street near 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Chief Fred Shelton.

“He called police, and we immediately covered the area and found the other three suspects and recovered all the stolen property,” said Shelton. “We were able to return the property immediately to the owner and arrest all four.”

Chief Shelton did not release what items had been taken except that all of the stolen items were found.

“We appreciate the assistance of the homeowner and the officers of our department to recover this property and make these arrests,” Shelton said.
