Oxford police department releases several arrests

On April 23rd, 2023, the Oxford Police Department was dispatched to the area of Highway 7 South for a domestic disturbance. After investigation, Nicholas Houston, 31, of Oxford, MS, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Domestic Violence. Houston was taken before a Lafayette County Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $10,000 bond.

On April 22nd, 2023, the Oxford Police Department was dispatched to the area of Herman Drive for reports of gunshots. After investigation, Vandy Leo Shaw, 53, of Oxford, MS, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. Shaw was taken before a Lafayette County Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $10,000 bond.

On April 22, an officer with the Oxford Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a license plate violation. After investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen. Trevon Robinson, 22, of Marks, MS, and Kamien Wells, 21, of Marks, MS, were both arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Robinson and Wells were both taken before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge for their initial bond hearing and each issued a $5,000 bond.

On April 20, the Oxford Police Department responded to a reported assault of a minor in the 1100 block of Belk Blvd. After investigation, Marcus Dewayne Jefferies, 42, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with Felony Child Abuse. Jefferies was taken before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge for his initial bond hearing and issued a $10,000 bond.
