Gulf Coast media is reporting that a civilian contractor is facing federal charges after a man was killed and three others injured in an accident involving pedestrians.

According to WLOX and the SunHerald, it was a non-training-related crash which took place at Keesler Air Force Base just after lunch time Wednesday.

All three of the injured pedestrians are currently in stable condition. The name of the deceased Airman is being withheld until 24 hours following the notification.

“This is a tragic accident and loss for the 81st Training Wing and our community,” Col. Bill Hunter, 81st Training Wing commander, told WLOX. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Airmen and we are thinking of and praying for all those involved.”

The name and charges against the civilian have not yet been released.

The FBI, which has jurisdiction on the case, is being assisted by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Air Force Security Forces and the Biloxi Police Department.
