The National Weather Service urges residents to stay hydrated this week and use caution when outdoors, as those temperatures climbing into the mid 90s will combine with plentiful moisture to create muggy conditions.

Today, the western portion of central Mississippi should see high temperatures in the mid-90s with heat indices up to 110 degrees.

The eastern portion will also top out in the mid 90s, with only slightly lower heat indices around 105 degrees.

The peak times for the dangerous heat should be between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Heat indices of 105 to 110 degrees should be more concentrated in the afternoons, continuing into early next week.
