ORIGINAL POST:

Police are looking for a man they say burglarized the Valu Mart Shell on Old Highway 471 in Brandon.

Brandon Police Chief William Thompson said between 1 and 2 a.m. police got a call to the convenience store where they found a suspect had tried to break the glass door with a rock. When that didn’t work, police said he used a piece of rebar to break out a section in a front window.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video going into the store and taking several small things, including tobacco and CBD products. Police say he appears to be a black male, slender build, possibly between 16-21 years old. On the video, the suspect is wearing dark pants, light shoes, no shirt, and a black skull cap. He may have cuts or pieces of broken glass in his back, chest or arms from climbing in the window.

Brandon detectives are still looking for higher quality video of the suspect for identification purposes, though they were able to provide preliminary lower quality video screenshots to the media.

Anyone with information that can identity the suspect and lead to an arrest could be eligible for a reward. Please call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477), or submit a tip online or with your mobile device at www.P3tips.com.
