The Jones County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a two-year-old male child who walked up to Glade Elementary School unattended on Friday morning. The child attempted to gain entry to the school at the main front entrance and was noticed by a teacher.
Glade Elementary School personnel took the child inside the school and called to report the incident. It was determined by school personnel that the child had walked from the Little Miracles Daycare next door to Glade Elementary School.
The child was uninjured and returned to the daycare where JCSD deputies met with the daycare owners and staff to review security video to determine how the child managed to get out of the facility unnoticed.
The child’s guardian was contacted and arrived on the scene. They were briefed on the incident by daycare owners and staff as well as by JCSD deputies.
JCSD Deputy Tammy Myers filed the incident report which was also forwarded to Child Protective Services as required. No charges have been filed in the incident.
