Hinds County Director of Administration Stephen Hopkins was released on bond just hours after being arrested on an embezzlement charge Wednesday.

WLBT reports Hopkins bonded out, though the bond amount is unclear, of the Raymond Detention Center Wednesday evening.

The charge Hopkins is facing is in connection with a job he had prior to coming to work for Hinds County, authorities say.

Officials say Hopkins was arrested by Hinds County deputies Wednesday after having a car accident in Ridgeland. On running his information, they found an outstanding warrant for him.

WLBT reports that the wreck occurred near Rice Road and Old Canton Road, and Hopkins was allegedly in a county car.

County Administrator Kenny Wayne Jones told reporters he said the matter was a personnel issue.
