Dante Bender, the man who allegedly killed his pregnant girlfriend Brittany Jones, and Meridian Police Officer Kennis Croom, has been charged with capital murder.

Last Thursday, Meridian police got a call of shots fired, and Croom was the first officer on scene.

After Bender fled the scene, there was an overnight manhunt that resulted in Bender’s arrest by the United States Marshals Task Force and Ackerman Police Department.

The first memorial service for Officer Croom is being held today at the Meridian High School Gymnasium at 1 p.m. It is located at 2320 32nd Street in Meridian.
