A Diamondhead man has been found to be a suspect in a 30-year-old North Carolina homicide, WLOX reports.

Warren Luther Alexander, 71, was arrested Tuesday and is accused of the death of Nona Stamey Cobb in Surry County, North Carolina in 1992.

Reportedly it was July 7, 1992, when Cobb’s body was found on the side of an interstate. In April 2021, police brought the physical evidence back out to re-examine it, and there was DNA to look at for the first time with new advanced technology.

From that DNA, Alexander was developed as a possible suspect in Cobb’s murder. He is being held at the Hancock County Jail awaiting extradition to North Carolina.

Investigators are working to find out if Alexander could have additional victims.
