The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) has issued a public alert regarding an increase in noise levels from August 13-15, due to rotary wing aircraft conducting training flights in Lafayette County.

The Sheriff’s Department posted it on their social media page.

“We’re alerting the public to prepare nearby communities for an increase in noise over the course of the next few days,” said Lt. Col. Martin Meiners, spokesman for the 101st Airborne Division.

He emphasized that the safety of Soldiers, their families, and local communities remains the top priority.

The division encourages residents to plan for the anticipated rise in military air traffic and expressed gratitude for the support of local leaders, as well as the Mississippi and Louisiana National Guard.
