Congressman Mike Ezell presents long-deserved medals to WWII veteran Pernellus Turner. (Photo: Mississippi Veterans Administration)On Tuesday, Congressman Mike Ezell visited our Mississippi Veterans Home in Collins to honor a VA resident, Pernellus Turner.
The 102-year-old Army Seargent (Ret.) served in World War Two as a wheeled mechanic and transporter of various vehicles and was present for that exact role on “D-Day” in France.
During his service, Turner earned several medals, but somehow the presentation of those medals slipped through the cracks.
Congressman Ezell presented Turner with the following medals he never received during or after his service.

Turner was born in Texas during the great depression, and lived in New York after the war. His daughters flew in from Connecticut to be with him for the presentation.
