Shortly before 4:00 pm, volunteer fire departments from Sandersville, Rustin, and Powers responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 11 and Erata Road.
Firefighters found a Chevy Trailblazer and a Toyota Tacoma involved in the accident about a half mile before Erata Road on Highway 11.
The Trailblazer rear-ended the Tacoma, causing it to spin around. The Trailblazer then continued to Erata Road, where it crashed and flipped onto its side.
Source: Jones Co. SOThe adult female driver of the Trailblazer was trapped inside the vehicle and appeared to be seriously injured. She was treated for her injuries at the scene and was transported to the hospital by Emserv. The adult male driver of the Tacoma was evaluated on-site and declined ambulance transport.
The Laurel Police Department, Jones County Sheriff’s Office, and Mississippi Highway Patrol also responded to the scene. Before the incident, the Laurel Police Department had been attempting to stop the Trailblazer driver.
