The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the whereabouts of a woman who went missing after a wreck around 1:00 a.m.
32-year-old Samantha Elisabeth McCowan was involved in the crash on Victory Road new Hwy 184.

Source: Jones Co. SOAfter hitting a Mississippi Power Company power pole with her vehicle, McGowan was observed leaving the scene on foot.
She was last seen in the vicinity of Highway 184 and Highway 84 East (on the Laurel end) in the early hours of Friday.
McGowan is described as a white female, approximately 5’ 6” in., weighing approximately 160 lbs., and with light brown colored hair. Additionally, McGowan has a tattoo on her right leg from her hip to her knee, a tattoo of a dragon on her left hip, and a tattoo on the back of her neck.
She was last seen wearing a lime green shirt, black and white shorts, and a hoodie of unknown color which was seen on a security camera video near the crash site.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Samantha Elisabeth McGowan is asked to call the Jones County Sheriff’s Department at 601-425-3147 or Jones County Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP (7867).
McGowan may have sustained injuries in the crash. JCSD deputies and investigators have been and currently are searching the area surrounding the crash site seeking to locate her.
Volunteer fire and rescue units from Powers and M&M responded to the crash scene this morning along with EMServ Ambulance Service. Mississippi Power Company crews worked until approximately 8:00 am today replacing the broken three-phase power pole and restoring power to the area.
