The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash on Monday at approximately 5:45 pm that claimed the life of a 57-year-old woman and injured a 17-year-old.

The offset head-on crash occurred in the 400 block of North Eastabuchie Road. The fifty-seven-year-old female driver of the Honda Crosstour involved in the crash was declared deceased at the scene.

The seventeen-year-old female driver of the Nissan Sentra involved in the crash was injured and transported by EMServ Ambulance Service to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg for treatment.

The names of both drivers are being withheld at this time as the crash investigation by JCSD Sergeant/Investigator Denny Graham proceeds.

Volunteer fire departments from Jones County Fire Districts 5 and 6 responded and utilized battery powered and hydraulic rescue tools to free the entrapped drivers. There were no other individuals in either vehicle.

Jones County Deputy Coroner Don Sumrall responded to the crash scene along with JCSD, EMServ, and Jones County volunteer fire units.
