Weekend weather: Is snow on the horizon?

Therese Apel

According to the National Weather Service of Jackson, Friday will be a really nice day to be doing what you do — whatever that is.
Temperatures Friday will get into the 60’s, with a high of 65 in the Jackson metro area, and between the upper 50s and upper 60s in the rest of the central portion of the state. Skies will be sunny, adding to the spring-like feeling of the day.

But on Saturday, rain showers will develop during the day, bringing a wet afternoon and evening.

As Saturday night turns into Sunday, colder air will come in, with rain changing to snow in many areas by Sunday morning before precipitation exits the area. Some minor snow accumulations are possible farther north in the area.

As is often the case with winter weather in the South, this particular setup is rather complex, so keep checking for any updates to the forecast.
