Wednesday Weather: Alert day, severe weather potential

The National Weather Service states:

Severe weather is likely for most of the area, mainly from later this afternoon through this evening. In the NW “moderate risk” area, damaging wind gusts of up to 80 mph, large hail up to golf ball size, and strong tornadoes will be possible.

Most of the remainder of the area has a risk for damaging winds of 60 to 70 mph, large hail up to golf ball size, and tornadoes.

Intense rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches in a short duration are anticipated with storms later this afternoon and evening. Localized flash flooding, especially in low-lying & urban areas, will be possible.
