UPDATE: Pearl Woman Who Repeatedly Threw Newborn Into Road Sentenced To Life In Prison

According to an update from WLBT, a Pearl woman who killed her seven-week-old daughter after “repeatedly and forcibly” throwing her into the road was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On May 17, 2022, at her initial appearance, Makaylah Jolley was denied bond at which she was informed of her formal charge of capital murder in the blunt force trauma death of her daughter, Khalysie Jolley.

Witnesses told police the child was slammed to the ground repeatedly before Jolley ran off into the woods to escape officers. She was apprehended shortly afterward.

Today, (November 6, 2023) Rankin County Circuit Judge Steve Ratcliff sentenced the woman to life in prison without the possibility of parole after she pleaded guilty to capital murder.
