Wanted suspect, 21-year-old Gevarian Heard of Edwards is in custody after turning himself in this afternoon.
He was wanted by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department for 5 Counts of aggravated assault and 1 Count of drive-by shooting stemming from a shooting in Bolton last weekend.
Six people were wounded in the shooting that happened Saturday night in Bolton.
Sheriff Tyree Jones said in a media briefing that Gevarian Heard is wanted for five counts of aggravated assault after people riding ATVs got into a fight and began to shoot at each other.
Jones said five victims — two men and three women — were wounded by shots allegedly fired by Heard and Ahmadd White, who was wounded when return shots were fired. All the victims are expected to recover, and White was taken into custody after he was treated in the hospital, believed to have also fired shots.
The vehicle allegedly shot into by Heard and White belonged to a woman Heard is believed to have shot in the head in March. The woman recovered from that shooting.
