On July 14, Pike County deputies responded to 3100 Old Industrial Road at the J&N Food Mart for an attempted armed robbery.
When deputies arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene after the cashier pulled a firearm in defense of the store.
The cashier was able to chase the subject a short distance and observed the suspect jump in the passenger side of a white cargo van.
The van then reversed and fled the scene. A BOLO was issued to surrounding agencies. A short time later, McComb Police observed the van run a red light at a high rate of speed on Presley Blvd.
The officer was able to stop the vehicle and take the two suspects into custody.
MPD was also working on an armed robbery earlier that morning involving the same two suspects. Evidence was collected from the vehicle and along the roadway linking both suspects to the armed robberies.
25-year-old Javan’te Jovan Francis, from Lafayette, La was charged with 2 counts of Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. 26-year-old Shantez Lanea Chachere, from Lafayette, LA was charged with 2 counts of Armed Robbery, and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
During the investigation, Pike County Detectives learned that the two are suspected in numerous armed robberies in Louisiana and more charges are pending. no bond has been set at this time.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
