On January 31, the Tupelo Police Department was called to La Quinta on North Gloster for a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they determined that 34-year-old Jamie Sheffield from Mooreville, had physically assaulted his grandmother.

Medics assessed the victim at the scene and she will seek further treatment if needed.

Officers arrested Sheffield and detectives began a more thorough investigation.

They learned that Sheffield was already on house arrest with MDOC for the same crime with the same victim.

On February 1, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir ordered Sheffield held without bond. MDOC has also been notified of this case. These charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
