Mary Apel

On December 3, Tupelo Police were called to the area of Bella Vista Drive for a disturbance. During that investigation information was developed that identified a suspect in several recent burglaries.

The suspect, Brandon Shelton (29, Tupelo) was detained that night and arrested for possession of narcotics.

Crime Stoppers Tips and a TPD investigation confirmed Shelton was a suspect in Car Burglaries in the following areas:

11-27-2021 Oak Ridge Drive
12-01-2021 Osborne Street
12-02-2021 Charleston Boulevard and Market Street

On December 5, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Shelton held without bond on seven counts of Breaking and Entering of an Auto and one count of Breaking and Entering of a Dwelling.

This investigation is ongoing with other arrests and/or charges possible. The speed of developing a suspect and making an arrest was directly related to tips and the video evidence that several home owners provided our detectives.

Anyone with information about thefts in our area is encouraged to contact CrimeStoppers of North East Mississippi at 1-800-773-TIPS.
