According to the Vicksburg post, a head-on collision on a rural highway killed three people Thursday night.
Authorities in Sharkey County said that on Thursday at 10:39 p.m., MHP responded to the crash on Highway 61 in Sharkey County.
A 2020 Ford Escape driving north on Highway 61 collided with a 2010 Pontiac G6 driving south on Highway 61.
The driver of the Escape, 44-year-old Bertha S. Balckledge of Vicksburg and the driver of the Pontiac, 49-year-old Kenan L. Baker of Greenville, both died in the crash.
A passenger in the Pontiac, 39-year-old Shankia L. Williams, of Glen Allan, also died in the wreck.
The crash is still under investigation by Mississippi Highway Patrol.
