Terry Police Department Launches “Operation Santa Patrol”

Nicole Kral

Operation Santa Patrol is well underway at Terry Police Department.

Terry Police Chief Michael Ivy, along with Asst. Chief Anthony Moore, Sergeant Coleman, and Officer Jackson are conducting traffic stops; but instead of writing tickets, they’re handing out cash gifts to citizens and stuffed animals to kids in the community.

Chief Ivy tells us why it’s so important for the department to develop relationships with the people in their town.

“It’s just a way to give back. This is funded by the officers that work for the Terry Police Department,” said Ivy.

“We all want to give back to the community, and just let them understand that we’re part of the community.”

Operation Santa Patrol is an opportunity to bring the community and police together by showing the positive relationships between officers and citizens.

Sergeant Coleman wants his community to know that the police are there to help.

“We’re handing out treat and gifts for the citizens of Terry today. In appreciation for them being supportive of the police department, and how we appreciate them. Let them know that police are not all bad. And we wish the best for them as well.”

Operation Santa Patrol is ongoing until December 22, so Terry citizens – be on the lookout!

Terry Police Department would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
