The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Tupelo Police Department that occurred on February 17th, 2024.

Officers with the Tupelo Police Department were responding to a domestic violence call near Abby Lane in Tupelo, Mississippi. Upon arrival, officers encountered a subject that displayed a firearm towards the officers.

The subject then retreated into a wooded area and Tupelo PD Special Operations Group was deployed. Shortly after, the subject was found and displayed a firearm at the officers. Officers discharged their weapons striking the subject.

The subject received fatal injuries. The officers and Ky involved did not receive any serious physical injuries. This information is preliminary and subject to change.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
