Shots Fired Call Leads To Arrest of Felon With Firearm In Tupelo

On November 17, 2022, at 2:00 a.m. Tupelo police responded to Milford Street for a shots fired call.
When officers arrived they heard gunshots in that area and shell casings were located outside of an apartment at King Creek Apartment complex.
An investigation led officers to arrest 40-year-old Tavis Gathings for discharge of a firearm.
Evidence was recovered including spent shell casings, live ammo, and a semi-automatic handgun. Preliminary investigation revealed that Gathings had fired the handgun multiple times in the air. No victims were located but it was learned that Gathings was a convicted felon.
On 11-17-2022 Tupelo Municipal Court Judge set bond at $5,000 for Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon. This is a felony charge and will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
