Recently, the Ridgeland Police Department began investigating the theft or attempted theft of nearly a dozen motor vehicles within city limits.
These crimes specifically targeted Kia and Hyundai brand vehicles.
On July 25, 2023, investigators were able to identify and apprehend those believed to be responsible for the thefts, and are as follows:
• Laroderick Denard Latiker, 18, of Canton, MS
• Kalbria Nashelle West, 18, of Brandon, MS
• Six (6) additional juvenile subjects were placed in custody. Due to their juvenile status, their identity is being withheld.
All were charged with numerous criminal offenses and are awaiting their initial appearance. The subjects in question, as well as the vehicles stolen, may also be involved in additional crimes committed in neighboring jurisdictions. The results of our investigation are being shared with local agencies. Thank you to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and Madison County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending these individuals.
