Richland Event Brings Some Last Summer Fun Before The School Year

The City of Richland hosted their first major event at the city’s new Parks and Recreation building, The Family Last Blast Summer Party on Saturday.

The event was meant to offer a last little bit of summer fun for families in the community before the school year begins later this week.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to bring our citizens, young people and everyone in our city out for our free community event at the end of the summer to celebrate that we’re about to go to school,” said Richland Mayor Clay Burns.

Inflatables, games, and races covered the interior of the gymnasium while food trucks, laser tag and a foam party were held outside. There was also an outreach component as donations were excepted for the food pantry at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church.

“We have food banks inside the city from other churches, but today we are spotlighting Hickory Ridge and their mission to help those in times of need,” said Burns.

Richland Residents Hannah and Reed Hawthorne enjoyed the day with their two sons who loved the foam party the most.

“It’s a great time for families,” said Hannah Hawthorne. “They done such great work with it and it’s a beautiful day.”
