On September 3, the Richland Police Department FLEX Unit, assisted the United States Marshals Service, with locating and apprehending a wanted fugitive from the State of North Carolina.
Information was obtained, that the suspect, Mark Jacques Greene, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was possibly staying at a hotel in Richland. Greene had 8 active felony warrants for:
(2) counts of Child Rape
(4) counts of Statutory sex offense with a child
(2) counts of indecent liberties with a child
The suspect’s vehicle was found at a local hotel and after conducting surveillance, Mark Greene was positively identified, while loading personal belongings into the vehicle, as if he was about to leave the area.
The United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with the Richland FLEX Unit, attempted to move in and take Greene into custody but he fled on foot.
Greene did not make it far at all when he was surrounded by officers, along with two K9’s being deployed. Greene surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
After the arrest, officers uncovered what appeared to be a credit card fraud operation, where the suspect was involved in stealing bank account information and cloning cards with the stolen account information.
Greene will be extradited back to North Carolina, to answer for the alleged charges.
