On October 20, 2022, skeletal remains were located in a wooded area near Camp Shelby in Forrest County.
The remains were sent to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory for further examination and analysis.
According to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department, a DNA genetic profile was able to be extracted from the remains, and this DNA profile was subsequently sent to Othram Labs, the world’s first private DNA laboratory built specifically to apply the power of modern parallel sequencing to forensic evidence, for a potential genetic match.
Through a coordinated effort with Othram, the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office was able to positively identify the remains as Kimberly Ann Hall.
The incident remains under investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
