HATTIESBURG, Miss. –The Mississippi National Guard is deeply saddened to report the loss of Command Sergeant Major Plez William Summers III of Brookhaven. Summers passed away at his home with his family in the early morning hours of Friday, June 14, 2024. He served as the installation command sergeant major for Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center in Hattiesburg, Miss., since January 2023. He leaves a legacy of over 36 years of distinguished military service to the state of Mississippi and our great nation.

Our paramount concern at this time is to ensure assistance is available to support his family and the service members and civilian employees he led.
