In the latter part of January, the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a burglary in the Burton area.

Deputies and Investigators worked with the property owner establishing leads in the case.

On February 1, 2023 Deputies developed leads that directed Investigators to a residence on County Road 1151.

Further Investigation led to the recovery of the items that had been taken from a shop and vacant residence on Highway 365.

After further investigation, 25-year-old Joshua Blake Thomas of Booneville was located and arrested with the assistance of the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department. The recovered items were returned to the owner. Thomas was charged with Burglary of Commercial Building.

The bond for Thomas was set at $25,000 on the felony charge. Thomas also had other outstanding misdemeanor warrants with Prentiss County. The case will be presented to the Prentiss County Grand Jury by Investigator Jason Chism.
