UPDATE: Pregnant woman and unborn child fatally shot in Jackson, alleged shooter in custody

Therese Apel

A 23-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn baby are dead after a shooting Wednesday night in Jackson, and police sources say at least one of her shooters is in custody.

According to police, Keyunta McWilliams was 8 months pregnant. She was shot multiple times on Beasley Road near Brownlee Drive. A male passenger and a two-year-old-child were also in the vehicle.

Police say four male suspects followed the victim from a gas station before they shot her.

One of the suspects is Joseph Brown, who law enforcement sources say could be a suspect in several other crimes.

Police sources say Joseph Brown and his crew were arrested overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Precinct 2 officers and a task force took them into custody. Brown was running from a house on Kenmore Drive, according to police.

Both McWilliams and her baby were pronounced dead at the scene.
