According to a report from WLBT, a person was robbed early Monday morning near Pecan Park Elementary School on Claiborne Avenue in Jackson.

Sherwin Johnson, the Executive Director of Public Engagement for the Jackson Public School District, told WLBT that the robbery happened at 6:30 a.m. on the sidewalk outside of the school. He said that a weapon was displayed during the robbery, but there were no injuries.

Johnson said that Jackson police and JPS Campus Enforcement are investigating. WLBT also reported that Johnson said that safety measures and protocols are being reviewed “to ensure the highest level of proactive measures is employed to create a safe and secure environment.”
