Children’s Of Mississippi earned a prestigious award for the excellent care they give to children.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) was awarded the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Beacon Award for Excellence- Silver Level.

This is the only PICU earning this status in Mississippi and only 1 of 20 in the entire country.

This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional care provided by the PICU team and shows their dedication and skill in caring for children.

“The Beacon Award for Excellence recognizes the expertise of our professional nurses and the high-quality patient care they provide every shift in our PICU,” said Ellen Hansen, chief nursing and clinical services officer at Children’s of Mississippi. “Our nurse leadership support of our highly skilled front-line nurses and our culture of excellence are essential to providing the best care for our patients, an important reason we achieved this honor.”

According to Children’s of Mississippi, results from AACN’s most recent national nurse work environment study show that nurses who work in Beacon units and units obtaining Beacon recognition report healthier work environments and higher quality of patient care than nurses who don’t work in Beacon units.
