Pedestrian killed in wreck on Medgar Evers Boulevard in Jackson

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on Medgar Evers Boulevard last night, according to Jackson Police Department.

On September 18 at approximately 8 pm, Precinct 3 officers were dispatched to 3246 Medgar Evers Blvd to investigate a pedestrian fatality.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a pedestrian had attempted to cross Medgar Evers Blvd when he was struck by a white 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle was interviewed at the scene.

The victim is a 42-year-old black male, but his name has not yet been released.

It is not known at this time if charges will be filed, police said.

An accident investigator and the Coroner’s office were called to the scene.
