On Sunday, October 16, Hattiesburg Police responded to a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle in the 6300 block of Highway 49 (north of 7th Street), just after 7 p.m.
When emergency vehicles arrived on scene, a deceased male was found in the southbound lanes of Highway 49. The vehicle, a 2018 Nissan and driver that hit the pedestrian stopped near the scene and contacted authorities and are cooperating with the investigation.
At this time, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
