Pearl Police Sgt. Receives Prestigious Award After Saving Woman’s Life

Sgt. John Williams

A Pearl Police Sgt. named John Williams, was chosen Officer of the Month after he received a prestigious Life Saving Award.

On March 4, while he was off-duty, Williams came upon a young lady in a car at a Brandon gas station that had suffered a fentanyl overdose and was not breathing.

Williams got the woman out of the car and immediately began CPR which went on for more than 12 minutes.

Once medical help arrived, they administered Narcan and she began breathing once again.

The Pearl Police Department posted on Facebook saying,

“Sgt. Williams selfless actions, while off-duty, saved this woman’s life. For that we are all grateful and proud to have Sgt. John Williams leading his squad at the Pearl Police Department.”

The Pearl Chamber of Commerce gave Williams several generous gifts for receiving this honor.

Williams career with Pearl PD began as an Animal Control officer in 2003.

He transferred to Patrol Division in 2004 and graduated from MLEOTA in 2005.

Williams was promoted to Sergeant in 2013.
