One person was fatally shot at an Oxford apartment complex early Saturday morning, officials said.

A release from Oxford Police Department States that the shooting happened around 2:05 am. Shortly there after, a description of the suspect’s vehicle was released to surrounding agencies.

The Batesville Police Department and the Panola County Sheriff’s Department located the suspect and were able to take two people in custody as persons of interest. They were transported back to Oxford.

The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi where they were able to stabilize him and get transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Around 6 am, the victim was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Oxford Police has made an arrest and say they will release more information after the suspect is formally charged.

“At this time, our hearts go out to the family of the victim. Please keep them in your prayers,” said Chief Jeff McCutchen.
