The Oxford Police Department is asking the community to help identify a person wanted in an assault that happened early Friday morning around 1:00 a.m.

The assault happened at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and South Lamar Blvd.

With rumors circulating, the police department clarified that this appears to be an isolated incident and investigators believe no other crimes happened at this time.

The suspect is a male in a red shirt and black hat who struck an individual and then ran from the scene.
