One person was seriously injured in a wreck in Jones County that happened Wednesday morning around 6:00 a.m.
M & M, Sandersville, Rustin, and Powers volunteer fire departments responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 84 East just west of Charlie Green and Mill Creek Roads.
Firefighters immediately began emergency aid for the single individual and traffic control, as one lane of the highway in the westbound lanes was blocked.
One individual sustained serious injuries in the collision after being ejected from the four-door Chevy sedan during the incident. The car sustained catastrophic damage so severe that the car’s motor was separated from the vehicle and remained in the highway, while the vehicle was several feet off the roadway, having come to rest after hitting a tree.
Traffic was extremely slow for over an hour, as one lane of the highway was shut down. Traffic was backed up past the Wayne County line at times during emergency responders’ presence on scene.
JCSD and MHP were also on scene.  Emserv Ambulance Service treated and transported one person to the emergency department.
MHP will be investigating the collision.
